Modern Disciples

Answering the Call to Follow Christ

What does it mean to truly follow Christ today? In a world where truth is often questioned, distractions are endless, and values are constantly shifting, how do we stay rooted in the unchanging Word of God? If you’ve ever wrestled with these questions, you’re not alone—and you’ve come to the right place.

We’re not here to offer quick fixes or shallow answers. Instead, we’re here to walk alongside you on a journey of growth, transformation, and purpose. Whether you’re a new believer taking your first steps in faith or someone who has walked with Christ for years, this is a place where you can deepen your understanding of God’s Word, defend the truth of the Gospel, and live out your faith boldly.

Welcome to
Modern Disciples.

We believe that discipleship is more than a Sunday morning activity—it’s a way of life. It’s about knowing God, growing in your faith, and making an impact in the world around you. And we’re here to help you do just that.

What It Means to Be a Disciple

The word disciple often brings to mind the twelve men who followed Jesus during His earthly ministry. But discipleship didn’t end with the apostles—it’s a calling for every believer. To be a disciple means to follow Christ wholeheartedly, to learn from Him, and to live in obedience to His Word. It’s not about perfection—it’s about progress.

Being a disciple in today’s world comes with unique challenges. We live in a culture that often rejects absolute truth, embraces relativism, and prioritizes self over service. But as disciples of Christ, we’re called to be different. We’re called to:

Know God: To grow in our understanding of who He is, what He has done for us, who we are, and how we should live. He redeemed us at a price we couldn’t afford to pay.

Defend the Faith: To stand firm in the truth of the Gospel and answer the tough questions of a skeptical world. To give a reason for the faith that we have.

Live Out the Gospel: To apply biblical principles to every area of our lives—our relationships, decisions, and even deny ourselves with our actions.

Make Disciples: To share the hope of Christ with others, loving them enough to invite them into the calling and commission we have received from Christ.

Discipleship is a journey, not a destination. It’s a lifelong process of becoming more like Christ, and it’s a journey we’re all on together. Here, we’ll walk this road with you, providing the tools, resources, and encouragement you need to thrive as a follower of Jesus.

Our Mission

We are rooted in the Great Commission: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you” (Matthew 28:19–20, ESV). This command isn’t just for pastors or missionaries—it’s for all of us.

Our mission is threefold:

Equip Believers: We provide sound biblical teaching and practical tools to help Christians grow in their faith. Whether you’re studying theology, learning how to defend your faith, or seeking practical ways to live out a biblical worldview, you’ll find the resources you need here.

Defend the Gospel: In a world filled with skepticism and competing worldviews, we’re committed to helping you stand firm in the truth of God’s Word. From apologetics to eschatology, we address the tough questions and provide evidence for the hope that is within us (1 Peter 3:15).

Inspire Action: Discipleship isn’t just about learning—it’s about living. We encourage believers to take what they’ve learned and put it into action, making an impact in their families, communities, and beyond.

Our vision is to create a global community of disciples who are passionate about knowing God, defending His truth, and living for His glory. We believe that as we grow in our faith, we can transform the world around us—one disciple at a time.

Our Journey of Discipleship

Discipleship is a journey, and like any journey, it has its ups and downs. It’s not a straight path, and it’s certainly not always easy. But it’s a journey worth taking—a journey that leads us closer to Christ and transforms us into His image.

The Bible describes this journey in three key stages: justification, sanctification, and glorification. Let’s take a closer look at what these mean and how they shape our walk with Christ.

Justification: Made Right with God

“Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” (Romans 5:1, ESV)

Sanctification: Growing in Holiness

“And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.” (2 Corinthians 3:18, ESV) - You might also look to Romans 12:1-2 and read about “renewing your mind”. - It’s a process.

Glorification: Our Future Hope

“Beloved, we are God’s children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when He appears we shall be like Him, because we shall see Him as He is.” (1 John 3:2, ESV)

While justification happens in an instant and glorification is something we look forward to, sanctification is where we spend most of our time as disciples. It’s a process that requires patience, perseverance, and grace. This is our journey or cross to bear. There will be moments of victory and moments of failure, but through it all, God is faithful.

Sharp Edge: Grace isn’t a hall pass. It’s a new birth—and a new obedience. If you feel that you can now freely go on sinning, then your heart is in question. But don't fear my words, Hebrews 4:12-13 illustrates that "everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of Him to whom we must give an account." NIV - Some folks will even say "Don't judge less you be judged." Not only is that misused, is an inaccurate quoted from the Sermon on the Mount (Matt. 5-7) but that quote should frighten you. The fact that it does not frighten most Americans who try to quote it, also shows their lack of understanding the passage they try to quote.

We don't sidestep hard topics here. We face them head-on. So start by exploring our category pages - they're practical built to help you think more biblically. You should find them very informative and useful. If you agree, then feel free to drill down into the articles within each category. Take your time. If you do, you'll learn a lot and be better equipped to live more like Christ.

Sharp Edge: The point isn’t content consumption. It’s Christlike obedience.

Learn from Those Who Came Before You. I’m a flawed and imperfect hypocrite, but I’m still in the fight as I continue to struggle and strive to be like Christ. When you give up, you fail. You will never win this fight until you’re dead. Christ is perfect and no one else is. Thus we’ll never “arrive” this side of heaven. However, we can stay in the fight and take every opportunity to demonstrate faith. Why, cause later (once we're all dead) everyone will have faith and that won’t matter. Having and demonstrating faith matters now, but it won’t matter later. Do it, don’t wait for perfection. If another Christian judges you, tell me and I’ll give them a gut check with my fist—kidding. That was my inside voice escaping.

The Christian life is full of challenges, but it’s also full of opportunities to grow, learn, and make an impact. We’ve tried to document the journeys of those who have walked this path before you—believers who have wrestled with tough questions, faced cultural opposition, and grown in their faith through it all. By learning from their stories, you can avoid common pitfalls, gain valuable insights, and be better equipped to navigate your own journey.

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.” (Hebrews 12:1, ESV)

The beauty of discipleship is that it’s a shared journey. We’re all part of the same body of Christ, and we’re called to encourage one another, build each other up, and spur one another on toward love and good deeds (Hebrews 10:24–25). That’s what Modern Disciples is all about—creating a community where believers can grow together, learn from one another, and inspire each other to live for God’s glory.

"Most middle-class Americans tend to worship their work, work at their play, and play at their worship. As a result, their meanings and values are distorted. Their relationships disintegrate faster than they can keep them in repair. Their lifestyles resembles a cast of characters in search of a plot." - Gordon Dahl

"The Bible is a reliable collection of historical documents written down by eyewitnesses during the lifetime of other eyewitnesses that report supernatural events that took place in fulfillment of specific prophecies and claimed their writings were divine rather than human in origin."
